Information
One thing is certain: Already for centuries shoes have not only been protection for our feet, but also become to an essential element of our outward appearance.
Especially women have focused their attention on beautiful shoes, which harmonize well with their outfit.
In Italy, the country where the creativity has arisen in many different arts during centuries, there crystallised out also the ability to draw shoes and thus the shoemaker handcraft could be established there as a worldwide appreciated and praised art. The Italian style and the Italian design count unquestioned to the worldwide most appreciated ones.
And precisely in Italy are manufactured all NOAH-shoes – by traditional handcraft factories and with a lot of love for detail and excellent workmanship.
But one more point distinguishes NOAH-shoes:
Their sustainability
For the sake of the planet NOAH-shoes are manufactured without leather:
The waste water of tanneries contain a lot of pollutants like salts, lime mud, sulfides and acids. The tanning stabilises the collagen and protein fibres in the skins, so that they do not decompose biologically, in other words: do not decay. The tanning of leather causes 800.000 tons of chromium wastes per year. The majority of this waste lands on dumps.
For the sake of the animals NOAH-shoes are manufactured without leather:
The meat and leather production go hand in hand. The skin of the animals is the “economical most important by-product of the meat industry”. Each year about 230 millions of cattles, 350 millions of sheeps, 175 millions of goats and 700 millions of pigs are butchered because of their meat and their skin.
For the sake of the humans NOAH-shoes are manufactured without leather:
49% of the annual worldwide corn crop and 90% of the annual soybeans world crop are consumed by 20 billions of livestock. This means that at a corn crop of 2,23 billion tons and a global population of about 6,4 billions of humans, each person could be provided with 957 grams of corn – but half of the corn is feed to animals.
This means that on half a hectare pasture land, which is needed to feed one cattle for the period of one year, so that it provides 300 kg eatable meat, could be made a crop of 3.000 kg corn or 20.000 kg potatoes instead. This means: there would be no longer world hunger!
Which material do we use for our chic shoes?
There are various possibilities to manufacture shoes without leather. We made our decision for the best material: high-quality microfibre.
The microfibre is very nice, very robust and extremely lightweight, moreover breathable, suitable for allergy sufferers and – very similar to leather!
Micronappa
is a high-quality material of microfibre, which looks similar to nappa leather. It is a high-tech product of fine interwoven polyester fibre on a cotton texture fabric. It is breathable, soft, durable, dirt-repellent and easy to care.
Microsuede
is a high-quality material of microfibre, which looks similar to nubuck leather or suede / velour leather. It is a high-tech product of fine interwoven polyester fibre on a cotton texture fabric. Microsuede is soft, comfortable, but nevertheless extremely sturdy. It is easy to care and breathable. Contrary to suede / velour leather, there are no problems in case of water markings.
Information on the shoe upper from the material manufacturer:
"Our research is oriented to eco-compatible products and so our synthetic leathers do not contain aromatic amines, amiantus, pentaclorophenol, formaldehyde, PVC, phtalhats and other nocive products that sometimes are used in natural leathers as azotic dyestuffs, chrome and chrome VI. Our synthetic leathers are biodegradables and, in case of combustion, they do not spread toxic gases."
Convince yourself! We offer you a good range of elegant and casual shoes, as well as boots and ankle boots, so that you can find for each occasion an adequate animal- and eco-friendly shoe!
At the end of the video VEGAN. For the People. For the Planet. For the Animals. (which we sincerely recommend to watch) the speaker says:
„Every day you are invited to make choises.
Live your value – change the world!“
We like this phrase a lot, because it means that each of us got it in his own hands to change the world a little bit and this every day!
